Dear Members of the RCDS Community,
We are pleased and proud to announce the launching of our new capital campaign, Building on Excellence.
As the title suggests, the funds will be dedicated to enhancing the Rye
Country Day School experience for all our students and to ensuring an
even brighter future for RCDS as the standard bearer of excellence in
education.
A principal goal of the campaign, therefore, is to
add significantly to the school’s endowment fund. Earnings from the
endowment will underwrite the school’s outreach and scholarship
programs, allowing our community to remain open, diverse, and
inclusive. The endowment funds will also be used to establish faculty
chairs, to honor and motivate pedagogical excellence, as well as to
recognize outstanding contributions in all facets of curricular and
extra-curricular student life. Attracting and retaining the highest
level of professional educators is our best assurance of maintaining
and building excellence.

In addition to meeting the demands of our scholarship program and adding strength and stability to faculty compensation, the campaign will generate funding for a number of physical enhancements to the campus. These will include the construction of Wildcat Hall, a multi-purpose lecture, performance, and classroom facility adjacent to the Upper School that will meet the needs of all constituents; the expansion and improvement of our athletic fields, including low-maintenance, high-efficiency artificial turf; renovation and reconfiguration of our Performing Arts Center; and creation of a Technology Fund.
Prior to the inception of the campaign, we sought the involvement and support of present and past trustees of the school and other long-term contributors. We are pleased to report that capital commitment in that “silent phase” of the campaign exceeded $14 million, giving us full confidence that the campaign itself will achieve its overall goals. We are gratified that we have received this initial vote of confidence and pledge that we will continue to earn your trust and meet the needs of your students as we move forward. We hope that we can count on you to support our efforts, and we thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Scott A. Nelson
