Careers at RCDS

What is it like to work at RCDS?

RCDS is committed to providing meaningful work experiences for its diverse community of employees. RCDS faculty and staff are actively committed to creating and sustaining a school community that is nurturing, innovative, collaborative, and inclusive. Faculty and staff are offered meaningful opportunities for professional development, growth, and leadership. The RCDS Board of Trustees has made a commitment to highly competitive salaries and extensive benefits, allowing the School to recruit and retain talented educators and professionals from all over the world.

What qualities is the School seeking?

First and foremost, RCDS is looking for candidates who are passionate about and dedicated to ensuring outstanding educational experiences for students. That is true for every position in the School. We seek to identify, recruit, and develop faculty and staff who will enrich our school community with their talents, perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds. We look for people who thrive in a collaborative environment, who find satisfaction in challenge, and who, like our students, are committed to learning and growing.

For all teaching positions, a bachelor's degree is required, and an advanced degree is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience. We encourage a diverse pool of candidates to apply. Rye Country Day School is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all federal, state, and local laws which prohibit discrimination in employment because of race, color, national origin, citizenship, age, sex, religion, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, and veteran status.

Why Work at RCDS?

Genevieve Gaubron, Accounting Manager

“I love all of the opportunities we have to get involved, from professional development, coaching a sport, and being a chaperone on trips, to helping the Parents Association with their events. I also love the opportunity to work with amazing people that give it their all in everything that they do for RCDS.”

Debra Simpson, Lower School Science Teacher

"Every day that I come to Rye Country Day School, I am excited by the prospect of seeing the natural world through the eyes of our youngest students. I am surrounded daily by the wonder and joy that children get from learning about new things! I am equally excited by being able to plan and collaborate with some of the most skilled teaching professionals who are passionate about what they teach! It makes me a better teacher and person!"

Katie O’Shaughnessey, Director of Academic Technology; Computer Science Department Chair; Upper School Computer Science Teacher

"Rye Country Day has been so generous in its investment in my professional development.  I have learned so much since my arrival here because I have had the opportunity to learn virtually and on site with peers in the industry.  I also love working at Rye Country Day because of my colleagues. They are innovative creators of experiences for students, amazing collaborators, and deeply invested in the learning and experience of our students.  I am inspired each day working with them."

Lynette Gioffre, Director of Advancement

"Rye Country Day is an outstanding community built on encouragement and support. The energy of our current students and families, faculty, staff, and alumni is both contagious and empowering. When you work in a community that is 'all in,' you'll never feel like it's really work."

Brandon Saltz, Middle School Science Teacher

"I love that programs here, whether they're pedagogical or employment-related, are implemented thoughtfully and thoroughly. I also love how much my colleagues value professionalism and support this in each other whether through the exchange of content-related ideas, development of approaches to individual students, or simply in making each other feel valued and necessary."

Ali Morgan, Director of Diversity & Inclusion

“RCDS is a place where all of my passions and talents are appreciated and valued. In many ways I am a lot like our kids—I am super involved in everything, and I love every minute of it. Over time, I realized this is not by chance. RCDS encourages me to channel my inner renaissance man.”
