RCDS Honored for Sustainability Leadership by Rye Sustainability Committee

At a recent Rye City Council Meeting, Headmaster Scott Nelson, RCDS Director of Sustainability Kerry Linderoth, and the RCDS Parents Association Environmental/Wellness Committee were honored as the recipients of the 2018 Rye Sustainability Leadership Award.

The award honors individuals, organizations or members of the business community that have made significant environmental achievements and demonstrated excellence in leadership for the health of the community and planet. RCDS has partnered with and supported the Rye Sustainability Committee for over seven years, partnering in the Green Screen film series, as well as other initiatives, like the ban eliminating plastics bags in Rye, which was introduced in 2012.

At the meeting, Headmaster Nelson commented, "On behalf of the school sustainability committee and the parent environmental committee, we're honored to receive this award. It's been a pleasure working with the Rye Sustainability Committee. I think it's really a very successful public/private collaboration that's helped educate the community and achieve some tangible results."
