Meredith deChabert, Middle School Principal
The warm weather sure took its time getting here, but we now have firm evidence that summer is indeed finally upon us. As always, our academic rhythm – a very real cadence – tells us that it is time for a well-deserved break. For students, families, and faculty and staff alike, the end of another academic year beckons.
Summer allows us to recover from fatigue, to relax – and to reflect – before we dive back in. The extended vacation is a time for us all to get the much-needed break that sustains our academic and extracurricular work year after year. It is our time to recharge.
This year, the Middle School enjoyed the many benefits of a different rhythm, courtesy of our new schedule and a shift to trimesters. A tremendously robust service learning program strengthened our community and our partnerships in tangible and intangible ways. We also continued to be vigilant about balance among academics, extracurriculars, special programs, and our various initiatives, all in the service of our students' wellness.
We are looking forward to building on this year's progress next year, in our continued pursuit of the goal of excellence in middle grades education. We are excited to roll out a new electives model in the seventh and eighth grades and to place increased focus on community building and character education in all of the grades.
But for now, we pause. It's time to indulge in some fun leisure reading, to stop and look at everything from a different perspective, to truly have fun doing the things that make us happy, and to breathe and be present in each moment to the extent that we can.
Thank you to all of our families, faculty, and staff for another terrific year of partnership on behalf of our students. We wish you a truly wonderful summer!
