2023 Wildcat Mini-Camps

Calling all Big Bad Wolves, Cinderellas and Wicked Witches! During each week of camp, we will read our favorite stories and then brainstorm how we can act them out. We will have fun practicing our lines with our friends. Then we will get our hands dirty using paint and other crafts to design our scenery and costumes. A recording of our performance will be sent home to families for all to enjoy! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Start your summer with a week of fun sports and games. Coach Zimmerman will lead a morning of cooperative games, such as Wacky Baseball, Kickball, Relay Races, Ultimate Football, Capture the Flag, Gaga, and more! All skill levels and abilities are encouraged to come out and get moving!  Just bring a positive and enthusiastic attitude!

Instructor: Fran Davia 

Would you like to learn the game of soccer, explore your creativity, and just have fun?  Then Soccer Plus is the camp for you! Former collegiate player, Coach Davia, will be your instructor. The first portion of each day will be a soccer program designed to help children develop a love for the game of soccer and compete in a fun, nurturing environment. Campers will learn how to dribble, pass, and shoot in a variety of drills and games. The second portion of the day will be dedicated to projects that explore your creative side with your friends. There will be a variety of centers every day, including sculpting with Model Magic, making puppets, designing beads, painting, and much more! Be ready to have lots of fun! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Spread kindness and joy through Camp Friendship. Have fun socializing with friends as you create heartfelt crafts, weave colorful friendship bracelets, plant flowers for a favorite person, and design a photo frame for a memorable photo. Fun cooperative games and collaborative play-based activities will fill our day. Join us at Camp Friendship and let the fun begin! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp. This camp is also offered during week 2.

If you LOVE to do arts and crafts projects, you will have a blast in Crafty Kids! We will spend the week painting using various mediums, including watercolor, Dot Art, and glitter paint. We will design jewelry using a variety of beads, decorate wooden objects, sculpt with Model Magic, design mandalas, and play lots of fun outdoor games. Children will be inspired to create, paint, and design unique projects. Let’s have an amazing week together! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Do you have a talent that you would love to share?  Are you an aspiring dancer, singer, poet, magician, or even comedian?  If so, then the Wildcat Talent Show is for you!  Join producer Ms. Huggard this summer in putting on the Wildcat Talent Show.  We will spend the week rehearsing our acts, creating advertisements for the event, and even enjoying a few community-building activities as well.  We can’t wait to share your talents with the RCDS community! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Have you been missing the good old days of Camp Wildcubs, or have you heard how awesome it was and want to get in on the fun? You're in luck! Join Ms. Cosgrove & Ms. Castagna for the same fun but with a twist! At Camp Wildcubs Seniors, you will make awesome crafts and engage in exciting games with your friends both indoors and out. Laugh, create, and make more memories with us! We can't wait to see you there! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Would you rather hang out inside to work on a fun craft, participate in an intense team-building challenge, or play a fun game of Capture the Flag out on the turf field? Good thing you won't need to choose in camp In It To Win It! This camp will be a blend of exciting outdoor AND indoor activities: hands-on arts and crafts, interactive games, sports, building, and more...all while working together and earning points for your team! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Are you ready to accept the challenge? Each day we will start with a scavenger hunt that will lead the campers to a mystery toolbox equipped with all they need. Through clues and materials, campers must work together to unleash the daily challenge. These challenges will put their problem-solving skills to the test through creative activities. Working in a new group each day, campers will be both leaders and listeners as they navigate through various STEAM activities. Whether you are someone who likes to write poems/songs, build the tallest structures, or draw with detail, there is something for everyone at Challenge Accepted. Each day will give an opportunity to observe, connect, interact, challenge, and create.  Do you have what it takes to win it all? Join us to find out. There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Students will conduct STEM experiments and explorations of the natural world around them on the RCDS campus. From engineering challenges to tinfoil boat races, students will become explorers and adventurers as we delve into engaging scientific topics! Students will participate in indoor and outdoor activities to see how science is all around us.  There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

This minicamp session is all about the Makerspace! We will work with various high and low tech tools to create unique works of STEAM. Students will explore using the tools, machines, and materials in the Makerspace, ranging from paper craft, 3D design and printing, laser etching and cutting, 2D & 3D constructions, circuit boards, and more! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp. This camp is also offered during week 2.

Instructor: Whitney Turner 
 
This summer, the computer lab and campus will become our design studio. We will utilize an array of design tools and equipment to help bring your innovative ideas to life. You will have the opportunity to code video games, build 3D worlds using Minecraft and Sketchup, make LEGO comics, compose digital music synced with animations, or perhaps design and execute your own unique project for the week. Learn, create, collaborate, problem-solve, and have fun with technology this summer! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Enjoy a week of fun in the summer sun! Mr. Horton will lead a morning of games, such as Capture the Flag, Gaga, World Cup Soccer, Kickball, Spike Ball, Whiffle Ball, and Kanjam. All skill levels and abilities are encouraged to come out and get moving!  Just bring a positive and enthusiastic attitude! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

The Microbit is a powerful miniature computer that fits in the palm of your hand.  It features an accelerometer, an LED screen, a light sensor, and the ability to power motors and other electronic devices. It is a fun and effective way to learn about electronic circuits and computer programming. Join us as we learn how to code a variety of new, exciting projects for the Microbit.  Accessible to both experienced coders and newcomers, we will learn how to code with both a block-based system and an optional text-based Python framework.   We will learn about circuitry and logic, make music with fruit and aluminum foil, communicate between Microbits, design our own interactive wireless games, and connect the Microbit to an interactive robot that responds to its environment. Learning how to code in this class will strengthen your problem-solving abilities, abstract reasoning, and computational thinking skills - not to mention, it is a lot of fun!  There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Summer fun with an artistic twist! This camp is all about making your favorite summer arts and crafts. Spend your day exploring different art activities, from making friendship bracelets to tie-dying. Some projects include giant bubble wands, tape art murals, large-scale weavings, and more! What will you make? There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

If you LOVE dancing, yoga, and movement games, you will have a blast in Wildcats Dance Mini-Camp! We will spend the week dancing, stretching, playing games, and choreographing a few dances to perform on our last day of camp. Students will help design a flyer to send home to invite families to our performance. We will use a variety of materials to design costumes for each dance. Children will be inspired to create their own dances and stretch routines and be exposed to various styles of dance, including hip-hop, contemporary, and ballet. Let’s have an amazing week together! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

Would you like to learn the game of soccer, improve your current soccer skills, or just have fun?  Then Wildcat Soccer is the camp for you! Qualified and experienced RCDS Coach Andrei will be your instructor. This is a soccer program to help the children develop a love for soccer and compete in a fun, nurturing environment. Players will work on the fundamentals of the game, such as passing, receiving, shooting, dribbling, and heading.  All players must have cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball, and be ready to have lots of fun!

You and your team will put your minds together to deduce clues and perform physical and mental challenges while learning about many unique places around the world. You will be tasked with challenges like completing scavenger hunts, navigating obstacle courses, solving riddles, and putting your memory to the test in trivia games. Each day, you will face a new course in a new location like the Grand Canyon, the pyramids in Egypt, or the Great Wall of China with pitstops, detours, and celebrations along the way. Mr. Turner combines his love for aviation and architecture into one exciting mini-camp. Build and fly hot air balloons & water-propelled rockets. Use Roman & Japanese architecture concepts to create a footbridge astride a stream. Craft a glider and frame a treehouse out of balsa wood. Create a 3D medieval motte-and-bailey castle & village using Minecraft Education. This is a week to let your imagination fly! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.

In AI Adventures, middle school students will embark on an exciting journey through the world of Artificial Intelligence. Exploring topics like chatbots, AI-generated art, and prompt engineering, students will learn about the different types of AI, their real-world applications, and the ethical considerations that come with this new technology. Through hands-on activities and engaging discussions, students will develop media literacy skills and gain the knowledge and tools to become confident and responsible users of AI, improving their productivity and preparing for the opportunities that lie ahead. 

Instructor: Ian Coupe 
 
Spend the week outside playing a wide range of sports and games! We'll spend time playing touch football, Capture the Flag, Whiffle ball, soccer, and more. In between activities, we'll take time inside to engage in some sports trivia games.  There is a $20 supply fee for this camp. 

Instructor: Emma Ilioiu-Brad
 
In this STEAM-inspired camp, students will explore the history of board games and puzzles before creating their own unique tabletop games. Through art, digital design, and problem-solving, campers will decide on game objectives and challenges, design a board and/or cards, model figurines and playing pieces, write gameplay instructions, and design and craft a storage box.  Campers will also have the opportunity to plan and record a commercial to advertise their creative invention, play different games, and invite other campers to play the games they created. Game inventors will explore the process of board game creation from start to finish! There is a $20 supply fee for this camp.
