On January 30, Owen Coady ’19, a senior pitcher and captain for the University of Pennsylvania’s baseball team, was named the Ivy League Preseason Pitcher of the Year by D1Baseball. This nomination comes after a dominant junior year performance on the mound where Owen ranked first in the Ivies with a 2.80 ERA (earned run average), first in opponent batting average (.200), tied for first in wins (7), and fourth in strikeouts (74) last season, earning himself All-Ivy Honorable Mention recognition.

At Rye Country Day, Owen was a four-year letter winner and received FAA Honorable Mention after leading the Wildcats to a 2017 FAA League Championship during his sophomore year. After another strong season his junior year, Owen was nominated to the FAA All-League First Team. As a senior, he was selected as a team captain, and after an impressive senior year campaign, he received FAA All-League First Team honors for the second season. At the 2019 Spring Awards Night, Owen also received the Wildcat Award, which is awarded to the team’s most valuable player.
