RCDS Hosts Inaugural Legacy Luncheon for Alumni and their Families

On May 29, RCDS welcomed alumni and parents of alumni to the first-ever RCDS Legacy Luncheon.

Alumni Executive Board President Nicole Jackson Fanjul ’02 welcomed the guests and shared her pride in being one of 63 alumni who are currently parents at the School. RCDS alumna, past parent, and now current grandparent Susan Berndt Mahoney '69 was the featured speaker. She reminisced about RCDS in the 1950s and 60s and highlighted the evolution she has witnessed in her time as a student, parent of three alumni, and grandparent of three students. Throughout the years and many exciting innovations, Mrs. Mahoney clarified that the most meaningful constant has been RCDS’s unwavering commitment to excellence, service, and community.

Head of School Randall Dunn extended his gratitude to the grandparents in attendance for sending their children RCDS and to those children for in turn sending their own youngsters to the School, too! Mr. Dunn expressed delight at the establishment of this new event because it serves as “a terrific reminder of how deep RCDS bonds run.”

It was wonderful to see so many multi-generation RCDS families on campus and learn about their perspectives on the School’s development over time. As Mr. Dunn shared, “[their] legacies stand as a moving testament to Rye Country Day’s strong and lasting tradition of excellence.”
