A Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 12 co-educational independent day school in Westchester County, New York

Disclosure of Financial Aid Information/Status

One of the core values of the Rye Country Day School Financial Aid program is confidentiality. The identities of our students who receive financial aid are held in the strictest confidence on campus. Beyond the Financial Aid Committee and Director of Admissions, only the Head of School, Director of Finance, Division Principals, select members of the Business Office (Student Billing), and Senior Administrators are made aware of student financial aid status. Other employees are made aware of financial aid status only as necessary to administer trips and activities.

It has also been our policy to share communication regarding Financial Aid, including policies, opportunities, instructions, etc. with parents/guardians, not students.

Through ongoing efforts to strengthen our Financial Aid Program, the School has recognized that additional transparency and more open communication regarding Financial Aid would be beneficial to families, students, and school employees. There are situations beyond the administration of trips in which the educators in your child’s life could benefit from access to greater context about your child’s experience. In addition, engaging students about their experiences and requested actions related to financial aid can help ensure a clearer and more navigable experience for them.

I am writing today to ask if you would like to choose for the School to disclose and discuss select information about your child's financial aid status with your child and select employees at RCDS on a need-to-know basis as determined by the Financial Aid Advocacy Team (Meredith deChabert, Assistant Head of School; Dion Reid, Dean of Financial Aid; Courtney Doucette, Financial Aid Officer; Priya Singhvi, Director of Health & Wellness; Ali Morgan, Director of Diversity & Inclusion; Rebecca Drago, Director of Public Purpose)

Parents/guardians can opt in or out of new Financial Aid disclosure opportunities by:

  • Requesting that your child receive copies of official communications regarding Financial Aid. Students would receive messages in addition to their parents/guardians. This does NOT include messages regarding fees or payments.
  • Providing RCDS with approval to disclose Financial Aid status to select employees including the student’s advisor, teachers, coaches, and other employees on a need-to-know basis.

The Financial Aid Advocacy Team and I believe these options will allow for better communication among all constituencies and provide select employees with the context necessary to best serve and support your student(s).

Please note that completing this form is optional. If you choose not to complete the form, confidentiality as described above will remain.

I am here to answer your questions about the School’s new disclosure opportunities and guide you and your family in considering this decision. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
