RCDS Students Participate in National Day of Silence

On April 27, several RCDS Upper School students participated in the GLSEN National Day of Silence, a student-led initiative where students take a one-day vow of silence to highlight the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ people.

Students participating in the event carried the official GLSEN Talking Cards to help educate others about their silence throughout the day. Many students, including those who did not officially participate in the Day of Silence, showed their support by wearing rainbow stickers and pins.

"The day was emotionally challenging but there was strong community support for our LGBTQ+ students and their allies who remained silent to bring awareness to how heteronormativity and anti-LGBT bias marginalize and silence important voices in our community," commented Laura Mungavin, Upper School GSA co-advisor.
