JSHS Science Competition:

RCDS Science Research students James Chen '19 and Marisa Kim '18 competed in the sub-regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium on February 3 at John Jay High School. They were among more than 400 participants from regional schools. James placed third in the category of Health and Medicine with his competitive poster describing the use of "Proteinuria as a Prediction of Post Heart Transplant Renal Replacement Therapy."

As a senior, Marisa had the opportunity to present her work as an oral defense for a panel of judges in the category of Physical Science, where she placed fourth and is eligible to proceed to the State Competition in Albany on March 7. Marisa's presentation was entitled "Creation of a Low-Cost, Heavy Metal Water Purification System via a Graphene Oxide Composite Membrane Incorporating TiO2-Glyphosate Nano-structures."

A special thank you to RCDS faculty judges in attendance, Brandon Saltz and Katie Sandling. Congratulations to both Marisa and James!
