Monarch Butterflies on Campus

You may have noticed all of the Monarch butterflies flying around our campus! RCDS has been certified as a Monarch Waystation by the Monarch Watch, and as a Certified Schoolyard Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. The Monarchs are beginning their migration to Mexico and are stopping at our campus Pollinator Gardens to fuel up on nectar for their journey south. As part of the Monarch Watch Citizen Science program through the University of Kansas, seventh-grade Life Science students have been raising Monarch caterpillars in the classroom and tagging Monarchs around campus.  Please be respectful of these delicate animals and do not touch them, but feel free to take photos.  Keep your eyes peeled - especially near our main entrance and the athletic fields!
