2023 Ryan B. Mahoney Memorial Regatta

On Wednesday, May 17, Rye Country Day School hosted the Ryan B. Mahoney Memorial Regatta at American Yacht Club. The annual memorial regatta, which began in 2016, is named after RCDS alumnus Ryan B. Mahoney ’98, an avid sailor and proud Wildcat. Following graduation from RCDS in 1998, Ryan attended Dartmouth College and was a member of the sailing team. Ryan competed and represented the United States three times in the international 420 class world championships in Australia, Belgium, and Newport, Rhode Island. In 2012, at 31 years old, Ryan passed away after a courageous battle and complications from Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

This year, the Ryan B. Mahoney Memorial Regatta hosted a record number of boats (26). The event was especially meaningful for the Mahoney family, as Zack W. ’27, Ryan’s nephew, was part of the winning boat that took home first place. Additionally, the Wildcat boats of Hayden Hart ’25 and Josh Greene ’25 and Connor Rusch ’25 and Adé Larsen ’23 tied for second place.

Thank you to the RCDS coaches, athletes, community, and Athletic Department for celebrating the life and memory of Ryan through honoring his love of sailing.
