Amanda Shulman ’11 Receives First Michelin Star at Her Place Supper Club

Amanda Shulman ’11, along with co-chef Alex Kemp, has earned a Michelin star for Her Place Supper Club in Philadelphia, PA.

While majoring in journalism and political science at University of Pennsylvania during her undergrad, Amanda dedicated all of her free time to cooking. She published a food blog, took a food writing class, and ran a supper club out of her apartment.

After working at professional kitchens—she was a line cook at Vetri Cucina in Philadelphia and Momofuku Ko in New York City, the executive sous chef at Marc Vetri’s Las Vegas and Joe Beef in Montreal—Amanda transformed a former Center City pizza shop into Her Place, the cozy little spot that feels like her very own dining room.

The Michelin Guide inspector describes Amanda’s cooking writing, “Her multi-course set menu changes every three weeks, and her accomplished and beautifully balanced cooking comes with French and Italian accents.”

Amanda looks forward to inviting more people to her dinner table at My Loup, her new fine-dining restaurant with a more traditional format, open down the street from Her Place.

Congratulations, Amanda!
