Annual Grade 8 Breakfast Celebrates Reflection, Gratitude, and Community

In preparation for their graduation, RCDS eighth graders gathered for their annual End-of-Year Breakfast, a cherished tradition filled with reflection, gratitude, and words of encouragement for the journey ahead.

Upper School Principal Jenny Heath congratulated the students on completing their Middle School years and welcomed them to the Upper School. Ms. Heath encouraged students to lead with kindness, try new things, embrace successes and challenges alike, help others, and speak up when it matters. The Grade 8 Deans, Mr. Silverman and Mr. Rosolen, reminded students about their learning and growth in eighth grade and encouraged them to join the Upper School with confidence that they “can do hard things.”

The event’s highlight was the keynote address from retiring faculty member Mr. Hager, who reflected on the many decisions that shaped his life—from meeting his wife and starting a family to pursuing teaching and music. After sharing with the students that the best things in his life came from taking chances, Mr. Hager performed Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" on his Uncle Edgar’s trombone—the first trombone he ever played!

Congratulations to the Class of 2030! We can't wait to celebrate with you all at graduation and welcome you to the Upper School.
