Author Pablo Cartaya visited the Middle School on Monday, May 2, and spoke at two assemblies (one for Grades 5 and 6 and another for Grades 7 and 8). Students, who have been enjoying a division-wide read of his book, The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora, were excited about the opportunity to speak directly with Mr. Cartaya and learn about his creative process.
Mr. Cartaya’s presentations centered around his family roots, some of the challenges he faced growing up between two cultures, and his journey to finding his voice. A main theme was that we all have important stories to share, and Mr. Cartaya encouraged students to share theirs.
