On Tuesday, June 7, Rye Country Day School hosted the Senior BBQ and the Blue & Gold Ceremony to officially welcome the Class of 2022 into the Alumni Association. Seniors, parents/guardians, alumni, administrators, faculty, and staff participated in the festive in-person event.
Head of School Scott Nelson opened the evening and shared his admiration for the Class of 2022 for their outstanding achievements. He congratulated the soon-to-be alumni and encouraged them to stay in touch with the RCDS community.
Senior Class President Leah Colin ’22 and Student Body President Maya Hirani ’22 addressed their classmates.
Manager of Alumni Relations Melissa Mahoney Wirth ’97 welcomed the seniors into RCDS Alumni Association.
The evening’s student-nominated keynote speaker was beloved science teacher Joe Rue, who retired at the end of 2022-23 after 37 years of dedicated service at RCDS.
Leah Colin ’22, Hudson Friedman ’22, Maya Hirani ’22, and Reese Wolfe ’22 were announced as Class Agents. They will represent the Class of 2022 for years to come to facilitate their meaningful engagement with the School, their peers, and other alumni.
During the Senior BBQ, the Class of 2022 enjoyed the RCDS tradition of signing their college pennants. Each year, the College Counseling Office invites members of the graduating class to sign the pennants of the college for which they are bound. The pennants are saved in the College Counseling Office as a keepsake and a reminder of the amazing paths our seniors have taken through the years!
It was a joyous and memorable inaugural alumni experience for the next generation of Rye Country Day leaders who have demonstrated excellence and strength of character in their many achievements in the classroom and beyond.
