Code Like A Girl Club Returns to the Middle School

The Upper School’s Code Like A Girl Club, whose purpose is to encourage more girls to enroll in computer science classes, is resuming its work to the Middle School. The club’s inaugural meeting of the year, which was held during Computer Science Education Week, focused on expanding participants’ coding “toolbox” to help them create fun and interesting computer programs and build awareness of the endless possibilities that the computer science field offers. The group met via Zoom and spent the hour-long session coding with the Processing programming language, a variant of Java that is used by visual artists and is a robust and powerful text-based programming environment. The group will meet virtually for 10 sessions through the winter and spring.
