Festival Chorus Continues Virtually

The 26th annual Festival Chorus Concert continued this year in a virtual format. As is the tradition, the Upper School Concert Choir joined with an adult choir of RCDS family members, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to create a joint community performance.

Over 110 adults from around the world spent Monday evenings this past winter on Zoom rehearsing the  Simon and Garfunkel hit Bridge Over Troubled Water as arranged by Kirby Shaw. Each person recorded their audio on a solo track, and the complete audio tracks were combined with each other and with the instrumental tracks to create the final performance. Participants also submitted video recordings to create a video that was synched with the audio track.

“This year’s Festival Chorus Concert is an expression and celebration of how we have all been there for each other during the many challenges of this past year. It is also a testament to the desire of this group to continue making music despite the hurdles and the many miles between us (Thanks to technology, we had singers from California to Ghana and many states and countries in between!)” — Mary Marcell, Music Department Chair
