Fifth Graders Draw RCDS Main Building

Fifth-grade students in Ms. Machado’s art class recently enjoyed plein air drawing. They gathered in the Khoury Courtyard facing the Main Building to create their own artistic renderings of the well-known facade. The goal of the activity was to focus on observation and detail.

In creating their RCDS Main Building drawings, students utilized three key competencies: perspective drawing, shading techniques, and medium mixing (graphite, Prismacolor pencils, ink, etc.). They also developed their ability to observe architectural details, discovering features like ornate windows, unique brick patterns, and the symmetry in the School's design. Many even remarked that they had not previously noticed these features.

Once they completed their artworks, students compared their drawings and discussed what they discovered during the process.
