Four Upper School Students Achieve Semifinalist Standing in USA Biology Bowl

Following an outstanding performance, RCDS Biotech Club members Tyler Hatstadt ’26, Illaria Liedtke ’27, Cooper Wu ’26, and Leon Zhou ’26 reached the semifinalist round of the USA Biology Bowl (USABB). Open to participants in North and South America, USABB is a qualifying tournament for the International Biology Bowl, which aims to enrich the lives of hundreds of competitors around the world by spreading the value of curiosity and collaboration. Known for its thought-provoking and inspiring questions, the IBB stimulates curiosity and promotes further exploration into the field of biology.

The RCDS Wildcats scored exceptionally high on the USABB’s 120-minute, 90-question written test, which covered everything from Human Anatomy & Physiology, Cell Biology & Biochemistry, and Genetics to Botany, Ecology & Ethology, and Biosystematics & Bioinformatics. It was especially exciting for the Wildcats to go on to compete in the buzzer-style Semifinal Round on December 13.

Congratulations to the Upper School Biotech Club, founded and led by Tyler Hatstadt, for coordinating this memorable learning experience for RCDS students.

Well done, Wildcats!
