Fourth graders brought their original pourquoi stories to life through an exciting interdisciplinary STEAM project (a pourquoi story is a fictional narrative that explains why something is the way it is).

The project included learning about the engineering design process in science, reading and writing pourquoi stories in Library, creating landscapes in art class, and programming robots–the main characters of the students’ stories–in computer class.

Some of the resulting pourquoi stories were set in elaborate jungles or forests, others featured underwater backdrops, and some of the main character robots even wore costumes! During the STEAM extravaganza on April 10, the fourth graders were especially proud to share their animated pourquoi stories and their protagonist robots to the entire Lower School community.
