Global Issues Class Explores the United Nations Headquarters

In April, Upper School students in Mr. Murray’s Global Issues and Local Action class took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan.

Students began the day with Dan Thomas P'26, Chief of Communications at the UN Global Compact, who shared insights into the importance and complexities of creating meaningful global change. Next they met with Kenji Nakano P'29 of the UN Secretariat, who shared the history, mission, and structure of the United Nations.

The visit also included a guided tour of the UN Headquarters, where students explored the organization's multilingual environment, learned how it addresses today's most pressing global issues, and gained a deeper understanding of how member nations work together through the United Nations.

Special thanks to Mr. Thomas and Mr. Nakano for making this meaningful learning opportunity possible!
