Grade 4 Inspirational Figures Hall of Fame

The Inspirational Figures Hall of Fame is an interdisciplinary highlight of fourth grade at RCDS.

Through literature, students examine individuals who overcame adversity and explore what makes someone truly inspirational. After selecting a person who has inspired others, students conduct research into their life, career, and lasting influence.

In art class, students spend time creating detailed plasticine sculptures of their inspirational figures. The project emphasizes observation, attention to detail, and craftsmanship.

To culminate the experience, fourth graders write, refine, and rehearse presentations to share during a formal symposium-style event in the PAC for parents, guardians, and faculty. Students work diligently to gather information, synthesize their research, and present it with confidence, tone, and cadence that leave audiences feeling just as inspired as they are. Sharing this meaningful work with loved ones and mentors is a proud moment for the students and serves as a fitting capstone to their final year in Lower School.

This year’s inspirational figures included Neil Armstrong, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Jane Goodall, Langston Hughes, Susan B. Anthony, Jackie Robinson, Greta Thunberg, and many more.

Congratulations, Wildcats on your thoughtful research, creativity, and inspiring presentations!
