Grade 9 World History Artifact Makerspace Project

For their final project, ninth graders in World History class were tasked with creating an original artifact from a civilization they learned about throughout the year. Students used materials in the Makerspace to create their artifacts. They drafted analysis paragraphs to accompany their objects, highlighting the ways their artifact helped historians understand the society it was present in.

Artifacts represented civilizations from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas stretching from early civilizations through the Industrial Revolution. Some examples included the Great Pyramid from Ancient Egypt, a Daoist Yin Yang rug from China, a Han Dynasty compass, an Incan villa, a Black Death doctor’s mask, and many more!
