Rye Country Day School welcomed all students back to campus for their first days of school on September 2 and 4, guided by this year’s all-school theme of COURAGE.

Upper School

Tuesday, September 2 marked the first day of school for our Upper Schoolers, and campus was buzzing with back-to-school energy! 

Upper School Peer Leaders treated students to a spirited arrival at the entrance of the Pinkham Building. At the first division meeting of the year, Upper School Interim Principal Jenny Heath, Head of School Randall Dunn, and Assistant Head of School Chris Hughes gave welcome remarks, emphasizing their enthusiasm about  the school year and the all-school theme of courage.

One of the most spirited events during Opening Week is the annual Clubs Fair! On Wednesday, September 3, representatives from the 50+ Upper School clubs organized booths to encourage new and returning students to get involved. 

Clubs are an essential part of the RCDS Upper School experience. Our students have the opportunity to lead and participate in a variety of clubs that promote exploration, foster a sense of belonging, and strengthen collaboration skills. The result is deep learning through teamwork in a student-led setting driven by curiosity and community.

Offerings included the Research Journal, Saturday Enrichment Tutorial (SET), Marine Biology, Drama, Environmental Science, and Business and Entrepreneurship Clubs to name a few. A job well done to all of our club leaders for an energizing event! 

Lower and Middle School

On Thursday, September 4, Lower and Middle School began the 2025-26 school year with lots of smiles and excitement. We cannot wait to celebrate all the growth, achievements, and adventures this new academic year will bring!
