Kindergartners recently engaged in the study of homes. After establishing the definition of a home, they investigated the various styles and materials used to meet the need for shelter around the world.
In addition to classroom resources and discussions, the students used poems, read-alouds, and guided research to further their learning on homes. They also reflected on their own homes, inside and outside.
To synthesize their learning, the students were asked to make a model home. They worked with Lower School art, computer, and science teachers to plan, create, and decorate their final products.
A special highlight of the unit was the model showcase where students proudly shared their work with their parents/guardians and Mr. Dunn.
A terrific, interdisciplinary learning experience!
