Lower School Art Show Opens With Interactive Reception

The Lower School Art Show opened on Thursday, December 11, showcasing the creations from students in Pre-K through Grade 4.  This annual division-wide exhibit showcases student art in a variety of mediums and explores the artistic process by answering the question: what do artists do?

As they prepared their artwork for the exhibit, students learned about the many ways artists draw inspiration—observation, imagination, materials, feelings, memories, etc. Reflecting on their own artistic process, students in Pre-K, K, and Grade 1 developed titles, and those in Grades 2, 3, and 4, crafted accompanying artist statements.

The reception for parents and guardians in December was a fun and  interactive culmination to our young artists' creative journey. Students proudly showed their work to their loved ones and then enjoyed a scavenger hunt, a collaborative tape art piece, button making, and more!

The Lower School Art Show will be on display in the halls of the Main Building through February 12.
