Madison F. ’29 competed for the Junior New York Rangers Team in Gothenburg, Sweden, beginning on Friday, May 31.
The Junior Rangers are a select group of young female hockey players chosen to represent the New York Rangers organization in national and international hockey tournaments throughout the season. Gothenburg, Sweden is also home to the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championships and is the same arena the Junior Rangers had the honor to play in during this tournament. It was a successful weekend for Madison and the Junior Rangers, as the team won all three games, made friends with the Swedish team, and bonded over hockey.
Additionally, an exciting part of the trip for Madison and her teammates was receiving on-ice training sessions from 15 NHL players, including Henrik Lundqvist and his twin brother, Joel Lundqvist. Henrik formerly trained in the Slottsskogens rink during his time with the Rangers.
This season, Madison also played for the Rye Rangers and the Stateline Hawks Ice Hockey Programs, advancing to the 2024 USA Hockey State Championships Finals with the Hawks.
Congratulations Madison!
Go, Wildcats!
