Last week, eighth grader Maya M. led a mindfulness workshop for students in Grades 5 and 6. Maya’s presentation shared insights from the book she co-authored with professor Dr. Ellen Langer titled Mindfulness for Middle Schoolers. A professor in the Psychology Department at Harvard University who has been described as the “mother of mindfulness,” Dr. Langer has written extensively on mindful learning, stress, decision-making, and health.
Maya’s presentation introduced the general definition of mindfulness to the younger Middle Schoolers and included engaging activities aimed at increasing their awareness about the ways their minds retain and analyze information.
