Middle Schoolers Discuss, Train, and Strengthen Social and Emotional Learning Skills with Yom Fox and Ali Morgan

In February, Rye Country Day’s Middle School welcomed Yom Fox, Educational Consultant and Teacher, and Ali Morgan, Former Director of DEI and Incoming Head of School at Good Hope Country Day School in St. Croix, to campus to lead interactive workshops for students on Social and Emotional Learning Skills (SEL).

Under the guidance of Ms. Fox and Mr. Morgan, students were able to name what it means to be a good classmate, reflect on the pressures of groupthink, and began to see themselves as active contributors to the community—not just participants within it. A meaningful takeaway from the interactive sessions was the introduction of the  “Upstander Ladder”, which offered students a practical and accessible framework for action (Interrupt bad behavior, Redirect the conversation, Support classmates privately, Check in with classmates afterwards, Get help from a trusted adult).

Special thanks to Ms. Fox and Mr. Morgan for sharing their expertise with all grade-levels in the Middle School!
