Ninth Grade World History Students Bring Research to Life in Makerspace

Earlier this month, Grade 9 World History students began an exciting hands-on project that blended research, creativity, and historical inquiry. As part of their study of civilizations throughout world history, students selected a society of interest and identified a related artifact to replicate in the Makerspace.

To recreate their artifacts, students used a variety of materials such as cardboard, clay, beads, and aluminum foil to transform their historical research into physical representations. From ceremonial masks and tools to symbolic art and architecture, each object served as a lens into the values, beliefs, and innovations of the civilizations that created them.

Students wrote reflections detailing the background of their artifacts, and described how the process of creating their own reproductions helped them gain deeper insight into the ancient civilizations and historic periods from which the items they originated.

The project concluded with a gallery walk through history. Students showcased and discussed their work, offering an interactive opportunity for historical learning.
