Pre-K Engineering Design Process Lesson Brings Together Science, Creativity, Problem-Solving, and Reading

Last week, Pre-Kindergartners learned about the engineering design process through a hands-on project inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs.

One class made predictions about materials that would work best to build the tallest, sturdiest structure, while the other explored which materials could withstand the blowing power of the Big Bad Wolf!

Next students reflected on the beanstalk’s incredible height and little pigs’ different houses, as they constructed their own towers and homes using Legos, wooden blocks, straws, connectors, and connecting cubes. Finally, students measured their creations and energetically discussed the results of their hard work.

This engaging lesson encouraged our littlest Wildcats to think like engineers while diving into their love of reading and tapping into their creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.

Great work, little Wildcats!
