Pre-Kindergartners Collaborate With Fourth Grade Buddies to Decorate Bags for Carver Center

On Friday, February 20, Pre-Kindergartners welcomed Assistant Director of Public Purpose Noelle Morano to their class for a special read-aloud of the children’s book “Maddi's Fridge”.

The story gently introduces the students to the issue of food insecurity, while emphasizing the importance of compassion and helping others. Ms. Morano also discussed the importance of RCDS’s motto, Not for Self, But for Service, and explained how the Carver Center—a longtime RCDS partner organization—works to provide food to members of the Port Chester community.

In the afternoon, the Pre-Kindergarten students were joined by their Grade 4 buddies to decorate canvas shopping bags that will be donated to the Carver Center’s self-choice, indoor food pantry.

It was a wonderful day of reading, connection, and giving back!
