On June 11, Rye Country Day alumni, faculty, and administrators gathered in Manhattan for a heartfelt evening of reconnection, reflection, and remembrance. Held at Draught 55, the annual alumni summer NYC gathering gives generations of Wildcats the opportunity to connect and celebrate their RCDS bonds.
This year’s event held special significance as the gathering also honored the memory and legacy of several cherished former RCDS faculty members who recently passed away: Steve Balser ’63, Barbara Goldfarb, Doug Higgins, Bob MacLean, Dick Pike H’11, Ann Sullivan, and David Tafe. These beloved mentors and colleagues were remembered for their profound influence on their students and their countless contributions to the School.
With over 60 guests in attendance across six decades, the evening was a powerful testament to the enduring value of the Rye Country Day experience—and the genuine connections within the extended school community.
During his remarks, Head of School Randall Dunn shared, “In learning about these wonderful individuals and passionate educators, I found myself so moved by their legacies and reminded of what makes RCDS so special—the outstanding teachers and their deep impact on the lives of their students. It is a privilege to be here today to remember them with all of you.”
