Rye Country Day School Coach Gabbie Cox has been nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year by the Manhattanville University Department of Athletics after a historic 2023-24 hockey season.
This prestigious award honors the academic, athletic, and community service achievements of graduating female college athletes across all three NCAA divisions. At RCDS, Coach Cox has served as Assistant Coach of Girls’ Varsity and Middle School Ice Hockey and Middle School Softball, as well as a Physical Education Instructor during the summer academic ACTION Program and a Facilities Supervisor.
During the 2023-24 season, Coach Cox led the Valiants to their sixth-straight UCHC semifinals appearance, while finishing third in the nation in goals. She amassed 34 points on 24 goals, the eighth-most total points in a season in program history. Coach Cox has picked up numerous accolades over the course of her career including CCM/AHCA All-American (23-24), Laura Hurd Division III Player of the Year Finalist (23-24), UCHC Player of the Year (23-24), USCHO Division III Third-Team (23-24), Manhattanville College Female Athlete of the Year (22-23), All-UCHC First Team (22-23, 23-24), and UCHC All-Academic Team (21-22, 22-23).
