In its second year, RCDS's High School Law Review Club celebrated a series of major milestones, including the publication of the inaugural volume of the RCDS High School Law Review in partnership with the National High School Law Review, and national recognition for two of its student authors.

As part of the club's inaugural publication, students produced original legal scholarship examining timely constitutional and legal issues. Alison Gipstein ’28 and Hannah Lewis ’28 were selected for publication in the 2026 National High School Law Review for their note, "Reassessing the Implications of Prior Restraint in the Digital Age as a Result of Ambiguity in New York Times Co. v. United States." 

Brooke Schuster ’27 also submitted "The Future of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 Following K.G.M. v. Meta et al. and State of New Mexico v. Meta et al.," while Ella Schwalbe ’27 explored First Amendment jurisprudence in "The Liberties and Limits of Investigative Journalism: Defining Press Freedom Through New York Times Co. v. United States and Branzburg v. Hayes."

The students’ work reflects the depth of scholarship, critical thinking, and legal analysis fostered by the club. "When we launched the High School Law Review Club, our goal was to give students the opportunity to engage in authentic legal scholarship," said Clemmie Everett, Upper School History & Social Science Department Chair. "Seeing our students embrace that challenge, and have their work recognized at the national level, reflects the intellectual curiosity, rigor, and collaborative spirit that are hallmarks of an RCDS education.”

Throughout the writing process, club members benefited from the mentorship of RCDS alumni Jemma Curtin ’12 and Robert Klein ’12, who volunteered their time to review early drafts and provide thoughtful feedback. Reflecting on the value of this mentorship, Ms. Everett shared, “The generosity of our alumni mentors made the students’ accomplishments even more meaningful, demonstrating the strength of the RCDS community." 

Club President and Co-Founder Brooke Schuster is grateful for the learning opportunities the Review has offered her and her peers.  "Through the process of writing my law review article, I was able to grow both as a writer and as a student,” she said. “Overall, it helped me become a more thoughtful reader, a more precise writer, and someone with a stronger appreciation for the role of law in shaping society."
