Rye Country Day School is excited to share that the institution has received a Green Flag Certification by the National Wildlife Federation’s EcoSchools U.S, which recognizes environmental action in Pre-K through 12 schools.

Schools can earn this certification, which offers four levels (bronze, silver, gold, and green flag), through their dedication to environmental actions, campaigns, and projects. At the beginning of the year, schools build an action plan where they earn points off of their environmental accomplishments throughout the school year. Rye Country Day’s extensive sustainability action plan included a variety of initiatives including, but not limited too, the community-favorite annual Earth Day Fair, Green Screen event, zero waste cafeterias, and registration on the Pollinator Pathway.

The National Wildlife Federation was so impressed with RCDS’s Green Screen event and has added it to their EcoSchools framework for other schools to mirror!
