Rye Country Day School mourns the loss of former Associate Head of School Ann Sullivan. Mrs. Sullivan, who had an illustrious career as an educator and school leader, passed away on September 22 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Mrs. Sullivan served as Rye Country Day’s Associate Head of School from 2014 to 2018. The bulk of her career was spent at Friends Seminary of New York City and School of the Holy Child of Rye, NY. Known for building authentic and lasting relationships with everyone she met, Mrs. Sullivan left an indelible mark on the RCDS community and the other schools she served. Her vision for schools as the place where individuals nurture a lifelong love for learning and a genuine commitment to service inspired many at RCDS and beyond.

She and her husband, Richard, raised their sons, David and Andrew, in Brooklyn and later moved to Rye, when Mrs. Sullivan became Head of School at School of the Holy Child. Ann and Dick were married 56 years and had three beloved grandchildren, Anna, Felix, and Xavier.

Mrs. Sullivan was predeceased by her three brothers: James, Robert, and Thomas Finneran. She is survived by her husband Richard; her sons David and Andrew, her daughters-in-law Adi Segal and Erica Matthews, and her grandchildren.
