Rye Country Day School is pleased to welcome back Tameka Farrell-Bowman as Interim Dean of Teaching and Learning.

A respected educator and academic leader, Ms. Farrell-Bowman returns to RCDS after serving as Assistant Head of School for Academics at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, Maryland. In that role, she provided strategic leadership for curriculum, faculty development, and instructional innovation across the school's Early Childhood - Grade 12 program, partnering with academic leaders to strengthen teaching and learning while advancing long-term institutional priorities.

Ms. Farrell-Bowman is already a member of the RCDS community. During her ten years at the School (2015-2025), she served as an Upper School science teacher, teaching AP Chemistry and Physics. In 2021, she was named the Pre-K–12 Science Department Chair and led the continued development of the science curriculum across all three divisions. As Chair, she supervised and mentored faculty, guided curriculum mapping and instructional initiatives, and helped grow Science Research at RCDS into a nationally recognized program it is today. Before RCDS, Ms. Farrell-Bowman taught at the Hewitt School in New York City and St. Pius High School in the Bronx.

Throughout her career, Ms. Farrell-Bowman has been recognized for building collaborative faculty cultures and designing innovative academic programs. Her leadership has included creating comprehensive faculty onboarding and professional development programs, implementing instructional coaching models, leading curriculum alignment initiatives, securing grant funding to support STEM education and faculty learning, and presenting nationally on topics including student engagement, curriculum design, and artificial intelligence in education.

An award-winning educator, Ms. Farrell-Bowman received Rye Country Day School's Cohen Family Excellence in Teaching Award and has been honored with a Regeneron Science Teacher Fellowship recognizing excellence in science education. She holds an Ed.M. in Science Education from the University at Buffalo, a STEM Education Leadership Certificate from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Niagara University.

"I've spent ten rewarding and formative years of my professional life at RCDS, where I've had the privilege of growing as a teacher and leader. Returning as Interim Dean of Teaching and Learning is an honor, and I look forward to partnering with our exceptional faculty and students as we continue to foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and academic excellence."

Her experience leading faculty, strengthening curriculum, and fostering a culture of continuous growth makes her the ideal person to serve as Interim Dean of Teaching and Learning.”
