Sixth Graders Create, Test Wind-Powered Cars

The Grade 6 wind-powered cars unit is an annual favorite! The project, which asks students to make a vehicle that can be pushed solely by wind while carrying lightweight materials, is as engaging as it is educational!

Students conducted research and created blueprints to build their own wind-powered cars in science class. Once they created their blueprints, Middle Schoolers built their model cars in the Makerspace, ensuring that they followed specific size and weight requirements. Later in the classroom, students tested their cars and recorded their results to see which could travel the longest distance. Students then presented their design process and findings to their classmates.
