Two RCDS Students Named Among Moffly Media’s “Teens to Watch”

Two Rye Country Day School students were recently featured in Moffly Media’s annual “Teens to Watch” series, which highlights standout students across Fairfield County for their accomplishments in academics, the arts, STEM, athletics, and community service.

Alexandra Lund ’28 was selected for Greenwich’s “Teens to Watch,” recognized for the breadth of her interests and accomplishments across scientific research, athletics, music, and service. A varsity field hockey and ice hockey player and violinist, Alexandra has pursued cardiovascular research through internships at Mount Sinai’s Institute of Cardiology and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. At RCDS, she also founded The RCDS Research Journal, creating a platform for students to share and publish their research.

In her feature, Alexandra credited RCDS Science Research Director and Biology Teacher Ms. Doran with encouraging her to pursue new opportunities in scientific research. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue exploring cardiology and ultimately contribute to the development of new treatments for cardiovascular disease.

Felipe Quintero Ochoa ’27 was featured among Stamford’s “Teens to Watch” for his work making artificial intelligence and machine learning more accessible to young people. After encountering a lack of beginner-friendly resources when first learning about machine learning himself, Felipe co-founded the AI Youth Global Organization, which now provides free educational resources to students in 13 countries.

At RCDS, Felipe leads the AI Club and has explored real-world applications of artificial intelligence, including using AI to help reduce food waste. His interests also extend to mathematical modeling and the potential for machine learning to help preserve endangered languages.

Way to go, Wildcats!
