Upper School Psychology Students Learn About Neurons and the Biological Bases of Behavior

As part of their study of biological bases of behavior, Upper Schoolers in Introduction to Psychology learned all about neurons.

Also known as nerve cells, neurons are the fundamental units of the nervous system and brain. From simple reflexes to complex thoughts, neurons drive the body's actions and are essential for consciousness and personality.

To deepen their learning of these fascinating cells, students were asked to create a model of a neuron using artifacts from nature. Once crafted, they highlighted important anatomical features, explained how they were represented in the model, and spoke to their functions.

The projects certainly got the students’ neurons firing and deepened their understanding of what underlies human behavior and personalities.
