The Upper School Robotics Team, 18693, participated in the Vex Robotics Competition (VRC) Southern New York State Regional Championships on March 3 at The Harvey School in Katonah, NY.
A total of 46 robot teams competed in the state regional tournament for a chance at the 10 qualifying spots for the VRC Worlds Championships in Dallas, TX.
During the qualification rounds, RCDS’s Robot B had an impressive performance with five wins and three losses, finishing with a rank of 18. Robot A finished the qualification rounds with three wins and five losses, ranking 35th. In the Skills Challenge, Robot A displayed impressive driving and programming skills and set new team records for the season with scores of 97 for driving and 78 for programming, improving their regional and world rankings for the year.
The team bids farewell to their seniors, Alexa Kim ’24 (Robot C), Apolline Weinstein ’24 (Captain of Robot C), Neil Norohna ’24 (Captain of Robot B), and Caroline Snell ’24 (Program Captain; Robot B). Their leadership and experiences were vital to this season's successes, and they will be dearly missed. The team wishes them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
