Upper School US History Classes Host Lear Beyer for Rye in the Revolution Presentation

In May, the Upper School US History and AP US History classes hosted Lear Beyer, father of RCDS alumnus Luke Beyer ’23 and committee member of Revolutionary Rye 250. 

Mr. Beyer presented “Revolution in a New York Border Town,” an overview of the history of Rye beginning with the Great Migration in the 17th century and the leadup to the American Revolution, when Rye was in the crossfire of America’s first civil war.

Prior to the presentation, RCDS students took a walking tour of Downtown Rye to look at remnants of the past and consider how the community has changed over time with the construction of the railroad and interstate highway.
