Upper Schoolers Travel to Philadelphia to Compete in the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference (ILMUNC)

During the weekend of January 22, the Model UN club traveled to Philadelphia to participate in the Ivy League Model UN Conference (ILMUNC), an annual event held by students from the University of Pennsylvania. Drawing thousands of high school students from around the globe, ILMUNC is one of the largest high school Model UN conferences in the world.

Rye Country Day sent a delegation of 20 students representing Germany, Philippines, and Senegal. The RCDS delegates participated in committees spanning a wide range of global issues—from U.S.-China trade tensions to economic stability and cryptocurrency regulation, nuclear nonproliferation, artificial intelligence and genetic engineering, sovereign debt relief, and human rights.

As a culmination to their season, the RCDS Model UN Club will be hosting its first-ever conference, RCDSMUNC, on campus on Saturday, April 18. A special highlight of the event will be keynote speaker and RCDS alumna Lilli Schindler '83, Chief of Global Communications of the UN Outreach Division.
