At a Wildcats Around the World lunch-and-learn, six students shared their experiences traveling to Georgia and Alabama last June as part of the Civil Rights in the American South travel program.
Recounting their travels to areas with deep connections to the Civil Rights movement, the students elaborated on the lasting impact of visiting historic sites like the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta, GA, and the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL. Students also described their journaling and discussion process during and after the trip, which helped them dive deeper into the lessons and takeaways of the experience.
The six students concluded the lunch-and-learn encouraging their peers to think about ways they can be upstanders in their communities and champions of human rights.
